We are looking for an experienced Support Worker to join our team working in a specialist supported living premises. You will be making a real difference to individuals with complex needs, learning disabilities and mental health issues and helping them to adjust to everyday life.

This is no ordinary job. Here at Aspirations Care you will offer individual support and encouragement to help some amazing people to live a fulfilling and independent life.

Duties include:

  • To support and enable Service Users to make choices to encourage their independence & social inclusion.
  • To ensure the premise is secure and to carry out regular checks on doors and the grounds.
  • Provide support and companionship during the night as required.
  • To keep notes and write up daily reports and plans.
  • Administer medication.
  • To report any incidents, accidents, illness and risks which may affect safety in accordance with procedures.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and use de-escalation techniques through to physical intervention as necessary. (full training will be provided).
  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met and to protect the Adults rights to live safely and free from abuse or neglect.

The role:

You will be supporting adults with complex needs and behaviours that challenge to live in their own homes, helping them to develop new skills, increase their independence, enabling them to access the community and get involved in various activities in order to have a better quality of life. This could be simple things like gardening and cooking to swimming, trips to the cinema and trying new hobbies and activities. You will need to use your resilience and understanding and be able to react quickly to difficult situations.

The position offers plenty of work/life balance with shift patterns covering days and evenings.

Skills and experience required:

  • Ideally some previous care or medical experience or a strong interest in working within Adult Mental Health, Autism or Learning Disabilities.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in care would be desirable but not essential as full training is provided.
