We are looking for a male Support Worker to join our team working in a specialist supported living premises. You will be making a real difference to individuals with complex needs, learning disabilities and mental health issues and helping them to adjust to everyday life.

This is no ordinary job. Here at Aspirations Care you will offer individual support and encouragement to help some amazing people to live a fulfilling and independent life.

Duties include:

  • To support and enable Service Users to make choices to encourage their independence & social inclusion.
  • To keep notes and write up daily reports and plans.
  • Administer medication.
  • To report any incidents, accidents, illness and risks which may affect safety in accordance with procedures.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and use de-escalation techniques through to physical intervention as necessary. (full training will be provided).

The role:

You will be supporting adults with complex needs and behaviours that challenge to live in their own homes, helping them to develop new skills, increase their independence, enabling them to access the community and get involved in various activities in order to have a better quality of life. This could be simple things like gardening and cooking to swimming, trips to the cinema and trying new hobbies and activities. You will need to use your resilience and understanding and be able to react quickly to difficult situations.

Skills and experience required:

  • For genuine occupational reasons we are looking to appoint a female candidate only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9 .
  • Previous support work or medical experience is preferred or a combination of experience and qualifications.
  • Experience of working with challenging behaviours, mental health, learning disabilities and Autism is preferred but not essential as full training is provided.
  • Compassionate and patient with the desire to make a difference is essential.
  • Resilience is key
  • Ability to react to emergency situations in order to preserve the safety and well being of users and staff.
  • Passionate about person centred support.
  • Physically able to engage in intervention techniques including standing, kneeling or seated.
  • A good sense of humour in sometimes challenging situations.
